Artist Statement:
I was born in Chicago in 1965. By the impressionable age of 2, I was uprooted to New Orleans during the wild and eclectic Mardi Gras season. The majority of my years were spent living, learning and growing in the heart of the French Quarter. I have been creating clothing, jewelry, interior and graphic design for as long as I can remember, refusing to accept the state of things as they were. In the 80’s, I created a club-clothing line named “Victim of Society”. My funky (and sometimes furry) gear was often the focus of entertainment at several local night clubs and a favorite among local hosts, personalities and performers. My backpacks made of velvet paintings of bullfights and The Last Supper and fluffy shorts and hooded pullovers were being sported by the hippest party-goers in town.
The recent years have been joyfully spent with the man of my dreams and creating my 2 Masterpieces, my sons—Antonio & Augusto. My boys share the same birthday, just 2 years apart, but despite their sign-sharing, their personalities couldn’t be more diverse. The immense pleasure of watching them interact and grow has inspired me to begin creating again. ...
