Artist Statement:
As an award-winning artist,
Ms. Everitt seeks to create
art that invites multiple
meanings. Through the use of
media imagery, personal photos
and text, Ms. Everitt
re-represents these elements
to create a narrative that
leans towards sarcasm. She
embraces the pop concept of
"Object as Art" and is
interested in offering
possibilities, not in
necessarily directing the
viewer. Her work focuses on
the play of color, movement
and object, bringing out an
emphasis on perspective and
lighting which enhances the
subject/s. She is intrigued by
popular images - appliances,
road signs, figures,
lifestyles and icons from the
50s to the present, " . . .
hold a fascination, in part
due to the nostalgic and
historic value as well as the
familiarity of these images
and the contemporary discourse
they reveal." She expresses
these notions in her work with
a bold, vibrant color palette
and a complexity of imagery
and detail that is meant to
entice.

Susan Everitt is a painter
living and working in the San
Francisco Bay Area. A native
to the Bay Area, she studied
with notable artists such as
Rupert Garcia, Sam Richardson,
and Barbara De Genevieve while
in the MFA program at San Jose
State University in ...
