Artist Statement:
As an award-winning artist, Ms. Everitt seeks to create art that invites multiple meanings. Through the use of media imagery, personal photos and text, Ms. Everitt re-represents these elements to create a narrative that leans towards sarcasm. She embraces the pop concept of "Object as Art" and is interested in offering possibilities, not in necessarily directing the viewer. Her work focuses on the play of color, movement and object, bringing out an emphasis on perspective and lighting which enhances the subject/s. She is intrigued by popular images - appliances, road signs, figures, lifestyles and icons from the 50s to the present, " . . . hold a fascination, in part due to the nostalgic and historic value as well as the familiarity of these images and the contemporary discourse they reveal." She expresses these notions in her work with a bold, vibrant color palette and a complexity of imagery and detail that is meant to entice.
