Artist Statement:
"Creativity helps me to be
more aware, of my Self, my
relationships, and my place in
the web of life. The creative
process allows me to
understand things about
diverse subjects that I have
not otherwise studied.
Often I allow images to
surprise me as they surface in
the media. Other times I
begin with a specific
intention and allow the image
to form accordingly.
Sometimes creating imagery is
simply a celebration, an
expression of the joy of the
topic that I'm working on.
Other times the image beckons
to me and I am urged to
interact with it in an
imaginative dialogue.
I let words come to me as if
the image could speak. It is
not unlike reading a good
piece of fiction and having
visual images arise in your
mind. However, I work the
other way around, letting
words (often rhyming) simply
come to me in response to an
image. It is great fun to
integrate forms of creative
expression. And in this
integration, often I receive
incredible insights.
It is a dance of sorts,...a
synthesis between images and
words... creating awareness
about that which I did not
know I knew."
