Artist Statement:
I love to paint. I like to
paint the stuff that comes
from deep inside...the places
that people don't like to talk
about. I've often been asked
why I don't paint or draw
"happy stuff". To put it
simply, I'm just not that way.
I couldn't tell you why, I'm
just not. For me, painting is
my escape. It's the time when
I can block out the world and
paint what I feel, or what's
inside me.
I also draw, mostly in pencil.
I've mingled in charcoal, but
we don't really get along that
well. I have a stronger bond
with pencil, because I've been
working in it since I was
about 14. When I draw, I
usually use a photo reference,
but several of my works have
come from my own mind.
I am a firm believer that we
all need an escape from
everyday trivialities. Some
people read (I do alot of
that, too); some people write
(also something I do); some
people exercise. I even know
people who fish to escape.
Painting is my escape, and one
I would go crazy without....
