Artist Statement:
The core of my work arrives
from impressions left upon me
during years of travel to the
major sights of antiquity as
well as from long periods of
time spent at sea. My
exploration of ruined of
temples, tombs and former
metropolises caused me to
interpret as well as invent
answers to the questions and
mysteries left by vanished
civilizations in my work as a
painter.
My paintings combine elements
of various historical
architectural styles which are
simultaneously familiar and
unknown. Many of my buildings
defy gravity. The subjects of
my paintings often address the
condition of being alone as
opposed to being lonely.
Finding the comfort in one’s
own company. What I attempt
to create on canvas is an
enigmatic dream state which
causes the viewer to become a
part of the painting; to see
their story in my imagery.
