Artist Statement:
Israeli painter and mixed
media artist Roni Pinto is
interested in
the big questions. Her work is
meditative; abstract, figures
and
shapes drift and float in a
ghostly, otherworldly space.
Pinto uses music as a doorway
into her art and it is this
movement into - and then
through - that one sees in her
work.
She incorporates different
Kabbalistic names of God,
lending
more to the impression that
she is working towards
something
spiritual and ancient. Of
course Pinto’s work is
thoroughly
contemporary; she uses
unexpected materials in her
mixed
media pieces, glow in the dark
wire, for example, that makes
the work kinetic as well as
graceful.
