Artist Statement:
“My work has a voice…one that
uses a “loudspeaker” to
communicate, and lives a much
more flamboyant existence.
My new work offers a realistic
assessment of humanity’s fears
and a broadened spectrum on
which of those fears or
experiences exist, and whom
they belong to. The purpose
of my art is to be a kind of
“social therapy” that
functions through
acknowledging experiences,
emotions, or subject matter
that is uncomfortable, and
then re-presenting it to my
audience in a matter in which
they are forced to observe
it…sometimes through a
different perspective, and
sometimes through their own.
After being asked, “Why are
you trying to protect your
audience?” I realized, not
only was I trying to protect
my audience, but more
importantly I was trying to
protect myself from what was
really happening in my life.
The discoveries I was
“silently” making were
actually repressing my
creative process, and the
shift to challenge that
protection is uncovering an
intellectual side to my work,
in which I also become aware
of my own motives for my
painting. Through the process
