Artist Statement:
The first aspect of my research involves the investigation of the medium and its aesthetic and visual potential. I explore the possibilities of different materials and different processes in order to produce new visual experiences.
The second aspect engages the research about the symbol, its meaning within many cultures and its power in invoking cultural and ideologies identities.
The work of the last three years focuses in the issues raised from the relation between material and processes and also traces a symbolic code to communicate spiritual issues and conditions.
Often I use aesthetically pleasant materials where I draw my symbols through the use of corrosive processes such as burn and welding which became pigment as the enamel or the acrylic.
In this way, the whole art work present itself as a dual entity, a compound of opposite aspects such as physical and spiritual, real and ethereal, ancient and contemporary, order and chaos.
In the last 18 month I am also studying the possibilities to combine my conventional art production processes with the use of the computer technology.
