Artist Statement:
In spite of the improvised gesture used as a tool in the pursuit of an ecstatic representation, organic choices in the construction of the artwork remain preeminent. Always of a gestural nature, the artwork, which relies more on improvisation than on surrealist automatism, is a visual description of the conciliation of opposed elements. Through exploration of the abstract form and inherent knowledge of the figurative form, an art of integration is developing.
Introspection, self-analysis and a general deepening of the unconscious mind play a vital part in the development of a personal and intimate imagery, where exploration of the human condition, commonly under the form of metaphors, through various archetypes and other psychological figures, occupies the leading role.
In the oscillating game of a certain figurative abstraction, travelling from one pole to the other, the artwork neither is figurative, nor abstract. It overlaps and transcends the traditional definitions, but remains the result of choices inspired by the creation of a coherent ensemble. Form, which is principal expression and real subject of the artwork, is strongly illustrated with its dominance, its richness, its isolation.
