Artist Statement:
Alice Eckles is an artist, writer, and art teacher living in Vermont. Her visual art works have been exhibited in Vermont, New York, and California. Her mixed media print featuring day lilies won third prize in the juried exhibition at the Art hop, 2003. Her mixed media print featuring sunflowers won first place in the Bourbon County Arts Council’s 5th Annual Fine Arts Exhibit.She was Artist in Residence at KALA Institute in Berkley California, 1987 and worked at the Lower East Side printshop in NYC 1989. Eckles is author of several books including *My Life as a Flower* 2001, *Family Road Trip from Vermont to New Orleans* 2002. Her books have been shown in galleries including No.B.A.I.S. in North Bennington, and the FLYNNDOG: 2003 group show, wOrd wOrks. Her artist-made fortune cookie business,"Alice's Arts" had been written about in Vermont life, Vermont Sunday Magazine. Eckles participated in Vermont Studio Center's Vermont artists' residency week in fiction and Breadloaf Writer's Conference in nonfiction, May, 2006 .
