Artist Statement:
Originally from the South,
Alice Murdoch lives and
maintains her studio in
Shelburne, Vermont. She
studied at the University of
Vermont, the Vermont Studio
Center and the Art Students
League in New York. She has
exhibited extensively
throughout the East coast and
the South, and is in many
corporate and private
collections throughout the
United States. She paints in
oil and has a penchant for
portraying a certain social
class, as well as general and
canine portraiture.
I have always wondered why
statements are necessary from
artists, unless their
statements are not clear in
their work. I think my
paintings are strong enough to
make their own, and that is my
statement about my artist's
statement....
