Welcome to Alla Ostrovsky's Portfolio.
As a painter it is a daunting task of being a wordsmith to describe my paintings. My art is more of a feeling to me than words. Much of the time my paintings hover between abstraction and representational art of objects and humans, animals and landscapes, everyday elements and created objects. I free my mind then let vivid colors flow freely through me and my brush and on to the canvas. It has always been a part of me. I do not recall a time in my life in which I did not draw or paint. For me, painting today in the digital age is more wonderful than ever. It is not just my multicultural background. The current era has given me a great landscape without borders and with many cultures. So much so that it can be overwhelming at times. I find objects, textures and natural beauty everywhere in nature and around the globe, I then use layers of oil paint without enhancement to create textures, colors and images and finally, when the painting stops talking to me, well then it is time to start a new painting. ... |
