Artist Statement:
People often ask artists “what
inspires you?”and “ how do
come up with your ideas?”
These questions preface that
art is premeditated, that it
is completely thought out
before a drop of paint hits
the canvas. The works I
create are not thought out
they just start and go through
many metamorphoses before for
they are complete. My works
are the part of me that
denotes the significance of
the natural world that
surrounds us and how it is an
innate part of who I am in
relation to the world. I use
a lot of naturalistic symbols
in my pieces, I like to
portray movement in space to
reflect the passage of time
and to recognize the effects
that just one moment has on
us. Often birds are my
vehicle for expressing my
intrigue into the natural
world and time, they represent
freedom from the physical
restrictions of earth-bound
life; the ability to be an
observer from a larger
perspective, to fly, to
escape, and to travel without
boundaries or attachments.
While a specific meaning may
develop about a piece of work
during the creation process, I
never seal a piece into an
obvious boundary and this
