My creatures are the resulting visual poetry of a dance between the clay and I. Through the practice of spontaneity I develop controlled organic forms. I practice this spontaneity in two-dimensional drawings and in my three-dimensional clay forms. I use fluid colorful glazes to enhance the form and give the creatures a vital quality. I view glaze similarly to blood that gives us color through our translucent skin.
The process of transforming clay from the earth into colorful jewels is magical to me. I enjoy taking clay and spinning it into a hybrid of exotic plants and animals... |
