Artist Statement:
I primarily paint in acrylic
on either stretched canvas or
linen. Since moving to
Sacramento in 2000, I have
been painting landscapes and
abstractions in addition to my
previous themes of people,
plants and animals.

My father is an artist and art
professor, so I have been
exposed to the visual arts all
my life. However, I lack
formal art training. I
minored in fine arts in
undergraduate, but took only
printmaking classes and a
couple of drawing classes. I
then earned a law degree.
Painting has remained the
major driving force in my
life, and I have been able to
devote more and more time to
it recently.

People often ask me how I can
combine such two different
professions. I feel that
these two paths compliment
each other. The study of law
helps the art because it has
developed my discipline,
stamina, eye for detail and
capacity for abstract
reasoning. The painting has
improved my law practice by
forcing me to seek novel
solutions to problems, to
question assumptions, to feel
more comfortable with
ambiguity and failure, and to
take risks.

As always, thank you for your
support of the arts....
