Artist Statement:
My name is Ana Monaghan, and I
paint wherever there is an
opportunity. I spend a lot of
time in both Hawaii and Japan.
Much of my art is done out of
doors, while directly viewing
the subject (on location,
called plein-air art).
I wish to idealize every
separate island in the Pacific
region, and show the local
people and scenery in their
native beauty. I am currently
offering my art to hotels in
the Pacific and Caribbean
regions. I have travelled 30
countries.
Recently, I was commissioned
by Norwegian Cruise Lines
(NCL) to produce some art for
their new liner, The Pride of
Hawaii. The project was
comprised of 16 large works:
Polynesian people and island
scenes of my choosing. Many of
the paintings are about 6 feet
square. I had about 10 weeks
to do this project.
Last I heard, an original
Gauguin painting is being
shown with my work.
Would you like to own some of
this art? Giclees of the same
size are available. I retouch
giclees to appear as
originals. Have a cruise line
original in your living room--
same size and with fresh
application of paint, upon
request.
