Welcome to Andy Mathis's Portfolio. Browse Mathis's body of work: I strive to create paintings that are both interesting to view and technically challenging. Watercolor is my favorite medium, yet I sometimes work in others. I love when colors bleed together with transparent luminosity. I would describe my style as "loose with a bit of restraint"- combining fluidity and detail together. I appreciate realism and how technically difficult that is to achieve, but I want my painting to look like paintings rather than photographs.
Subjects vary from florals, stilllifes, people, and architectural subjects.
