Artist Statement for Anji Worton

All of my subject matter is from my environment. Sometimes I see a face or notice a group of people interacting and I want to draw them immediately. I am inspired by the brilliant colours of nature, by dramatic lighting, by interesting objects and beautiful scenes. I go through my days framing images in my mind, thinking about how the scene in front of me would look on canvas, and wondering which medium would suit it. I think being an artist is a wonderful gift and to share that gift by producing works of art for others to enjoy is my mission in life.
