Artist Statement for Anthony Difatta

|
Whether representational or not, my process always involves finishing a painting in the studio, away from any influence besides my own visual perception. I guess you could call me a formalist. My newest work is about creating a chaotic field by using collage, scribbles, drips etc. Then I try to pull the whole thing together into a coherent two-dimensional formal composition without losing the spontaneity. This is why I have titled this series “Chaos & Order”.
