Artist Statement:
General information
My goal as an artist is to capture and explore the power that the female form holds over me personally and over society in general. My vision is to have the power of the female form breathe life into the overall vista of each image.
My work is divided into 5 series of style.
The Gaea series of images “Mother Earth” created in the “great outdoors” tend to have a super-saturated, colorful painted quality to them.
On the other hand, the Concrete Angel series are images shot in and around human built constructions and are often set in stark black and white, in an attempt to strip away the veneer of civilization and show true raw emotion.
The Living Poetry series merges the aesthetics and artistic flow of poetry and the female form to make powerful statements within the image. The poetry enhances the woman and the woman enhances the poem.
My Sauda series, Swahili for “Dark Beauty”, I focus on women of African descent, exploring their rich skin tones and unique curves. And like all women, there is a wide range of emotions and thoughts lurking within. I aim to display this range from the proud ...

| Your Personal Biography |
While working towards his degree in Computer Science, Anthony Gordon took a summer course in photography that would develop into a lifetime passion. From the moment he developed that first black and white print, he knew that he had found his calling. As he photographed the beautiful architecture of the city of Ottawa, Anthony felt that his images were a little empty and lifeless. And so his quest to add life and fill his images began. He dabbled in portraiture and fashion, often using that same architecture as a backdrop for his images, in an attempt to realize his vision. And as he shot the occasional nude, he found himself fascinated by how light plays with skin, how the female form rises and slopes so elegantly, how one can capture the soul through photography once all barriers are removed. He found himself able to think and create more on an artistic level than any ever before. And on a week long photographic trip to Utah, he came to an understanding, although he didn’t know it at the time. But once he got a chance to reflect on the splendor of the mountains and clay, the beauty of the models he shot, and the peacefulness that came with doing what one loves, his vision became crystal clear. That vision is to create have the beauty of the female form breathe life into the overall vista of the image.
Born, and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Anthony Gordon has continued his quest for creating that perfect image. He has had his work exhibited both online and at gallery exhibitions in Canada, the United States and overseas in the United Kingdom. His goal is to become a fulltime artist where his work and passion are the same, until then he continues his day job as a Computer Analyst and continues to work as much as possible on various projects to answer the call of his artistic nature.
Anthony Gordon once again resides in Toronto, Ontario with his beautiful wife, his greatest inspiration and support. |
