Artist Statement for Bartley Keith
|
|
|
Bartley C. Keith was recognized to have artistic talent
by the age of 9 when he drew Jesus Feeding The 5,000 and
several live portrait drawings of church members. At 17 he
became serious about Art, began studying Art History, and
graduated High School with a 2-year degree in Commercial Art.
He has been self-taught since then. He has a great love for
most Art from the Renaissance to the Present, a great love for
20th Century Art and Surrealism, most of all.
The artist spent over 20 years producing Realist
Artworks for a general audience and, has sold Originals
and Limited Edition Prints into over 500 homes in Ohio
with many repeat buyers. The artist has finally decided
to concentrate on doing the Art he loves, sees, and
creates within his own mind's eye. Some of them are
displayed in this site.
B.C. Keith works in drawings in Pen & Ink, Graphite,
Charcoal, and Ebony Pencil, along with Paintings in Acrylic
Paints and Mixed Media.
He considers the True Function of Art to be a Life-
Enriching, Mind-Opening, and Spiritual Practice expressed
by the artist and explored by viewers. In some ways Art
is akin to an Alchemy tool of large or small transformations,
with abilities to see the world in new ways, opening minds
and revealing insights about the self and nature of reality
to our conscious minds.
