B/DAM
Our art is inspired by our imaginations. We strive to balance the somewhat mystical into pleasing compositions of Unusual Mixed Media Paintings.
“B’s” encaustic paintings (the current focus of her art work) create surface textures that draw one into the layers underneath. The result is deeply textured works with tiers of obscured forms that convey depth and color.
By working intuitively and trusting what comes, she lets the process take over creating distinctive works of art.
Our Art Boxes involve sketching, carving, painting, wood burning and building each box from basswood panels. Each box is composed of drawings and carvings designed by both B and David.
While our boxes are constructed in a rectangular shape they are about color, pleasing imaginary landscapes and invented images. Many of the animals on the boxes are surreal; the three legged saguaro suckers are among them.
We spend most of our day together, now that we are retired, and our collective imaginations seem to run wild most of the time. We are energized by our art and hope you will be too.
