Perhaps the largest birthday party for Milton in the world, with poets, artists and composers. We will be documenting this extravaganza on video to produce a documentary for this historical event that we believe will be seen for centuries to come. Milton’s centennial birthday will not come again for another 100 years. Be part of it! If you attend the gala, you will probably be in this video!

Continue with my artistic statement :
Bertram H. Matysik, born in the 60`s in Monschau, Germany.
After his high school education with focus on the science subjects he studied meachanical engineering at university in correspondence to his faith for science as the rational part of his personality.
Then during his academic years he realized that science and his ratio were still important tasks for realizing his personality but something other important was missing to fulfill his life and to find his whole identity.
Refering to his early childhood creativity he discovered his desire and emotional passion deep inside for creating art in general.
And so he began to paint only for himself without any commercial target.
In the following years he learned the tools of painting by himself with focus on the artwork of the great masters of the last centuries but always with the target creating art on his way
as emotional expression of his individual character.
Of course this period of autodidactic development took its time but being free from any economic and social constraints it leaded to the characteristic and individual style of Bertram Matysik's art work.
His utterance 'I paint what I feel' is program for a part of contemporary art: showing directly and unfiltered the inner being of the artist's personality in the analysis of the object of his interest by offensive use of pure colors, light and shade and by emphasizing
selected details and perspectives refering to their actual importance.
His art reflects the contemporary spirit of our life time with their values, demands, limits and dreams from the individual's point of view - feeling life, world, nature and the human being as individual on the one hand and in the context of our society on the other.
But he also often holds a mirror up to the society - with success in regard to viewer's comments his art work seems to be only a simple image of our present, the world seen form a first views perspective and their superficial values reproduced on canvas and only focused on the nice things in life.
Of course the artist stands to his favour in the nice things of life.
Therefore besides items like automobiles, animals and portraits one main task in Bertram Matysik`s art work are his female and male nudes transforming the natural human being`s desire for love and sexuality in the context of the societies` contemporary values and dreams in oil on canvas.
Not without good reason his female nudes were published in the german edition of the contemporary important and well known magazine for men 'Penthouse' in 1996 for example. The same attention was payed to his male nudes.
But beside all superficial approach there is in his artwork also the artistic transformation of the present with a deeper, topical question being bound up with the simultaneous hidden message :
Is and have life not to be much more then only the acceptance of such things like beauty, money or the trivial right of the stronger as criterion for a worthful and successful life in our society?
Have we not to look much deeper and behind the obviousness, because the first view and sight must not be the whole and right one?
Developing his artistic identity in the early nineties Bertram Matysik started with the public presentation of his artwork leading in this time the artistic association later well known as Artmatysik consisting of the family members Bertram, Gerd and Gertrud Matysik.
So there were several art exibition events realized for example in Berlin 1996, Munich 1996, Bologna 1995, Hamburg Messe 1997 and Cologne 1994 in front of thousands of people showing a wide ranged spectrum of his artwork with unexpected public attention.
Apart from this there were also exhibitions for small artistic interested audiences and even for exclusive circles of artlowers showing selected artworks depending on individual ideas and demands.
Pieces of his artwork were shown on television for example in the first and second german television channels 'ARD' and 'ZDF'.
Apart from other publications one of his paintings was published in color on the front page of the world wide edition of the well known daily german newspaper 'BILD' in 1996.
So although going his own way as autodidact in the world of art his art work is recognized both by a wide ranged public audience of art lowers and people with knowledge of art but also by the media landscape and therefore has become a part of contemporary art
reflecting the spirit of time allowing the audience a direct view in the inidivual personality and emotional identity of the artist by using his art like a media.
Media: Painting. Oil and acrylic on canvas.
Themes: Landscapes, still lifes, portrait, automobiles, nudes, animals, motives from flora.
