Artist Statement for Anthony Seeker

|
Throughout history the human form has been one of the most criticized subjects for an artist to render. Often times artist choose their subject matter to record history, question social acceptance, and challenge political agenda. I hope my art will be useful in all of these forums, while allowing me to share my philosophy and beliefs with others.
The human form and its use in art have always aroused me. I strive to produce artwork that is erotic and pushes societies limits of what is acceptable as erotic artistic expression and what is pornographic. It is intriguing to see what one person considers tasteful and erotic while another may find it to be offensive.
I specialize in tasteful nude gay erotica, and work with various media and techniques to produce works in color and or black and white, but especially like doing works in black and white. Sometimes color will be applied directly to the piece or the work will be scanned on computer and digitally redone in full color using Adobe Photo Deluxe.
Anthony was an Audio Visual Technician - Graphic illustrator Specialist in the United States Marines where he received a meritorious mast for producing battalion and company logos of unsurpassed quality. After leaving the Marines in 1987 he attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. While attending school he started his own business and named it Art Movements Of Pittsburgh. Discouraged by his instructors and other local artist he never gave up his dream of doing gay erotic art and male nude drawings.
In 1989 Anthony sent some samples of his artwork to several international publications. Immediately he sold the 5 pieces and was asked to do more work. In 1996 Anthony decided to get away from the magazines and look for alternative places to sell and display his art.
Currently Anthony is involved with the Tom of Finland Foundation where his art has been added to their permanent collection. He has also attended the L.A. Erotic Art Weekend and Art Fair, and looks forward to continuing with his art and growing as a gay artist.
