Artist Statement:
The majority of my mature works of art have been dedicated to abstraction. With that said, I do not hold myself to a discipline of only producing abstract works, as there is an abstract element to any artist’s interpretation of a subject matter. In all of my work, I endeavor to reflect upon and express my views of the human condition. With my art, I portray my own struggles in understanding humanity.
The concepts behind my compositions are often personal and thus secondary, and viewers are not expected to grasp a deeper meaning. I hope that the titles stimulate my audience, and the images are inviting enough to keep them engaged. In my most recent works, I have eliminated the use of descriptive titles, therefore freeing the viewer from literal concepts. Through this step, I hope to limit distractions and better equip my audience to capture the raw feeling behind the individual works of art, without the interference of my personal opinions on the subject matter. These are also my reasons for abandoning purely representational imagery.
