I didn't become. The artist was and is always within me, visualising, playing, shaping, forming, manifesting the inner into the outer. |

OVERVIEW
Over the past 20+ years, work has evolved and extended in several areas regarding subject matter, materials, skills and concepts used, hence the gallery listing accordingly, with a selection of works.
Present 'creative' work, in abstract conceptual realms, continues to 'fuse' or juggle all the different skill/medium areas of 2D & 3D, eg. combining imagery from: the outer/inner worlds, painting, photography, drawing, printing, ceramics, fibres etc. into a 'melting pot'.
Sometimes described as eclectic, the innovative, dynamic, and creative processes and forces are continually at play in my work. Inspirational sources come from many influences in tune with my spiritual and intuitive journeys: figurative work - exploring the human body form; the organic - use of my tropical environment & imagery; developing and exploring meanings for personal symbolic imagery.
Being multi-skilled due to a long teaching career, the work is often developed and combined across multiple art forms 2D & 3D.
Areas include - life drawing, painting, mixed media, collage, ceramic/sculpture, textiles (screen printing), banana fibre basketry, print making, photography.
Selected artworks are available for a Print on Demand (POD) service at http://artropica-innisfail-studio-gallery.fineartamerica.com
Current work includes the exploration of stitches with paint, printing etc, digital manipulation of my artwork imagery and further hybrid extensions thereof.
Artist Work Statement for 'Elevating the Spirit' Exhibition
"The elevating and growth of the spirit, the stitch, colour palette and symbols in these exhibition works stemmed from detaching and extrapolating the stitch from its function (employed in my fibre receptacles) into an exploration of the metaphysical realm of ‘threads’. Often using collage processes I piece together ideas, concepts, visual elements and pieces of experience and is at the very heart of the creative process. It all acts as a vehicle for projection and exploration of self, linking and connecting to the human psyche, exposing conscious and subconscious realms, the alchemy of relationships while transcending spirit with the Divine."
