Artist Statement:
OVERVIEW
Over the past 20+ years, work
has evolved and extended in
several areas regarding
subject matter, materials,
skills and concepts used,
hence the gallery listing
accordingly, with a selection
of works.
Present 'creative' work, in
abstract conceptual realms,
continues to 'fuse' or juggle
all the different skill/medium
areas of 2D & 3D, eg.
combining imagery from: the
outer/inner worlds, painting,
photography, drawing,
printing, ceramics, fibres
etc. into a 'melting pot'.
Sometimes described as
eclectic, the innovative,
dynamic, and creative
processes and forces are
continually at play in my
work. Inspirational sources
come from many influences in
tune with my spiritual and
intuitive journeys: figurative
work - exploring the human
body form; the organic - use
of my tropical environment &
imagery; developing and
exploring meanings for
personal symbolic imagery.
Being multi-skilled due to a
long teaching career, the work
is often developed and
combined across multiple art
forms 2D & 3D.
Areas include - life drawing,
painting, mixed media,
collage, ceramic/sculpture,
textiles (screen printing),
banana fibre basketry, print
making, photography.
