Artist Statement:
My work is maily directed to an abstract, non-figurative painting characterized by a research connected with the use of materials as slaked lime and sand combined with acrylic colour, mostly in metal and pearl tones.
In my works I try to achieve contrasts and transparencies between shining and mat shades of colour, starting from ‘wrinkled’ bases or irregular surfaces in order to obtain a vague and undefined result by overlapping materials and colours.
In the last series entitled “Crust” there is an explicit reference to the irregularity of the earth’s crust, or rather the moon’s crust, for the play between metal shining and darkness and shadows as well as the alternation of thickness and depressions emitting colours in contrast.
In particular, in the latest production it can be found a more significant research in the forms with the picture breaking up into splinters of different dimensions to form both geometrical and casual compositions.
