Artist Statement:
Yves Aubrymore is a French
hyperrealist painter who works
on both sides of the canvas .
He explains: "recto is the
perception I can share the
part of me I can show to
others, worked in my habitual
style; verso is a statement of
my inner trouble, some
pictures in boxes, something
rougher, the inner part hidden
even to me". The images of
Aubrymore's paintings are
often violent and based on
events ripped from the
headlines -war and peace,
soldiers and weapons. His
block of color and definitive
linear forms help to link his
work with the currently
popular world of graphic
design. Although the process
differs drastically, the
result is certainly tempered
by the same effects that have
revolutionized the design
world -the decline of
industry, the computer, and
post-modern ennui. Previously
a photographer, Aubrymore has
exhibited widely in France and
has work in the collection of
the Monaco Modern Art Museum.
Recently, he has begun to
branch out with shows in
Portugal, Mexico and Brazil.
