Marco Cestari, a short monograph
Marco Cestari began to practice the art of Chan painting producing ideograms at 29, after studying tourism communication in Hawaii and the art of Japan.
He describes his work as follows: "As a Westerner, I felt that I had to draw on Western symbols and combine them with the Oriental technique to produce a pure, personal, authentic expression."
Cestari the man and the artist expresses the essence of the new Millenium: the fusion of cultures and symbols. The culture is Shodo, the art of Japanese writing. The style is Chan, a natural human expressive drawing technique.
Behind each ideogram lie years of subtle preparation: In addition to studying in Japan and Hawaii, Cestari studied aesthetics in Italy under André-François Villon, writer and art director of Harper's Bazaar.
After publishing his thesis "Poetry and Nature in Rainer Maria Rilke” Cestari received his doctorate in Foreign Literature in 1989 from the University of Feltre, Italy.
Cestari was born in Bolzano, Italy on August 13, 1961.
