Artist Statement:
One is not defined simply by their chosen
craft, or profession; I am not my art, and
my art is not defined by whatever labels
the galleries, the representatives, or the
critics assign it; Whether it be, Outsider
Art, Surrealism, or Neo-Expressionism.
Although all of these labels have at one
point, or another, been applied to my
work, that is not the sum and total of my
art.
Likewise, psychotic, lazy, hermit, and
talented, are all labels and stereotypes
that have been applied to me at one time,
or another, throughout my life. I think of
these labels as degradations of the true
spirit of myself and my chosen mode of
expression. Simply put, they are insulting.
I am not defined by my suffering, by my
mental, nor by my physical health , or by
my handicaps or by my abilities, ;
Therefore, I reject all labels,
classifications, groupings, or what- not.
Do not ask me to define myself, or to
define my work. I simply will not answer.
Like me, my art is what it is. And it will
remain so. Unique and true to its form.
I ask the viewer to do one thing as they
look upon my ...
