| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
Music is probably my biggest inspiration. I can crawl inside a piece of music and find images and energy that flow to my brush or chalk. It is as though the music moves me literally, not just figuratively. Nature serves as another strong inspiration. Usually, I don't pull images directly from nature. It is the essence that I try to connect to and interpret. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I became an artist because I had to. Once I discovered painting, my creativity was awakened. I can't be away from creating something in some way or I become agitated and frustrated. |

| Your Personal Biography |
My parents introduced me to dance and art as a child. I used to sit with my mom while she took painting classes from an artist/neighbor. We sat on pillows around a low table. I would fingerpaint; I still use my hands a lot.
I also attended art fairs with my mom. My strongest memory is of working on a collage painting of trees while watching people come and go.
During college, I discovered dance again and majored in it (along with Spanish and Linguistics). Later, after losing my house in a fire and my mom shortly after, I turned to the visual arts to help me cope. I have been painting ever since. I have also discovered book arts, mosaic, fused glass, metalwork, sculpture and enamels.
Through art, I have learned so much about the world and what matters. Now, I can't imagine life without it. |
