| Your Personal Biography |
Barry began painting around the age of 11 and has continued to develop for over 40 years. Beginning with self-taught photo-realistic drawings and copying paintings of the old masters, his work progressed through a wide range of mediums and styles, eventually maturing into a form of abstraction. Barry's unique style contains basic elements for the viewe to respond to with a sense of freedom and mystery.
After studying in New York with artist Damian Fedele, Barry's formal art education continued at Marylhurst and Portland State University. During his years of studying fine art, he supported himself as a craftsman in the graphic arts industry and has worked with some of Oregon's leading companies, producing award winning graphics for many of the worlds largest corporations. Barry's work has been shown in east coast, Midwest and Northwest galleries as well as Nike World Headquarters, The Palace of Fine Art in San Francisco, and a group show in Australia. As a result of Internet exposure Barry's work has been appreciated and collected by individuals form Uruguay to Italy.
Barry's goal as an artist is to create work that appeals to our sense of beauty and to suggest that mysterious quality of life we all feel during those unique moments when the human spirit touches the infinite and recognizes something far beyond what we normally experience. |
