Artist Statement:
I was born and educated in the Federal Republic of Nigeria wher I developed painting people en masse with the palette knife and oil.
After getting my first degree in Fine Art, I moved to USA for more life's adventures. Day by day, the artist in me was growing but not coming out. Due to many difficulties I went through, multiple jobs and family pressures, I could not concentrate on painting.
After 1991, painting to me became a conduit for my survival. I started playing my native records to enhance my ability to link my soul back to my root.. And voila ! ! It worked, and it's still working.My academic experience came into play in a more sujective and personal way.
I started painting about 'us' from our weaknesses to our fortitudes and vice versa. Every piece I produce has that human touch that keeps the viewer engaged. Today, I do not have to draw or sketch the traditional way to form an idea; but I could literally see images dangling before my eyes. When my emotions are expressed that way, I feel a fresh shower of relief.
