Artist Statement:
Barbara Brown Conrod's style
of painting is
expressionistic. Her lively
use of color compliments the
subject matter of everyday
objects and familiar
surroundings. Brown Conrod
works primarily in oils and
watercolors and captures the
essence of her subject in a
unique and magical way.
Working in traditional genres,
she often alters the
perspective size and color.
" My natural instinct to
painting involves my own
personal interpretation of
perspective and color. I
prefer to explore other forms
of pictorial space rather than
conventional/traditional
perspective."
Whether working in the studio
or on location, her energetic
painterly tecnique has a
direct, forceful, and
immediate quality. There is a
fresh exuberance that travels
across her colorful canvasses.
Barbara's passion for painting
includes the process of art
making. This process consists
of: the conceptual aspect, the
generation and refining of
ideas before and during
painting, the technical, the
act of painting, and the
intuitive aspect, which is a
constant force at work
throughout her painting....
