Artist Statement for Alan Davis

Born February 18, 1949 in Boston, MA., Alan grew up in family that spent a great deal of time enjoying nature. His father and grandfather were avid gardeners and summers included camping trips to the Northeast, Midwest and Mountain states. Through these experiences Alan developed an appreciation for not only the beauty in large landscape scenes, but also in the smaller details that surround him.

“While I’ve enjoyed photography since childhood, the development of digital photography and sophisticated software allows me to emphasize the aspects of the “story” I’m trying to relay through my work.”

Alan takes advantage of the artistic filters in Adobe Photoshop to enhance his photographic images. He uses “poster edges” in many of his pieces to emphasize details, while using “dry brush” in others to blend detail into a more uniform piece of art. Other pieces include focus added by lighting or other artistic filters.

“There is beauty all around us. The ability to see that beauty, whether in the details of the veins of a leaf or in the overall prospective of a cloudy mountain scene, is a great gift given to us by our creator. I hope to share the ability to see that beauty with others through my work.”

Note: Photographic pieces can be produced in sizes other than those listed. Indicate the width or length you desire. The piece would be produced proporational to what is shown (ie 6" x 8" could be produced as 8" x 10.67"). A quote will be sent on the price of the sized piece you choose.
