Artist Statement:
Feeling blessed to have never formally studied the “techniques” of art I neither care for nor am scared of the rules, there simply are none. I feed my self with that which I deem necessary to survive / create.
Having lived ten years in New Zealand, ten years in Australia and five years in various states of North America I feel detached from the concept of stability and the security that is established within that environment. I rely on the weight of my spirit not intellect to distinguish the difference between right and wrong or…………… good art and bad art.
The works represented here come primarily from a place of confusion and enlightenment; paintings go quickly from well thought out ideas to tantrums of concealment, from moments of inspirational ecstasy to heart breaking disappointment.
They are ambivalent yet they are clear. I hope I kill them before they do me.
Art imitates strife. Like a heroin addict set on reliving his first fix I find myself drawn back to the canvas hoping that today is the day something breaks.
