Artist Statement:
It's one thing to capture a moment in time but quite another to make it personal and allow others to see what you were viewing and possibly feeling at that moment. I get much satisfaction when someone sees one of my photos and doesn't even realize it is of a place that they pass every day. Through my photos I like to show others how much I appreciate those things I see everyday, that my surroundings can be just as beautiful as a mountain, a stream or even a rainbow.
Beth Achenbach is a self taught photographer living in Jersey City, New Jersey. She volunteers her time as a photographer for Jersey City Lesbian and Gay Outreach, Inc. Her work has been in the New York City Blade, The Jersey Journal and Go Magazine. This past August her "Pride Flag" series was displayed at Baker Boys Cafe as a prelude to the Jersey City Pride Festival. In October one of those prints, "Ripples", was also featured in a pullout section in The Jersey City Reporter that served as a walking tour map for the Jersey City Artist tour. ...
