Artist Statement:
Bill paints in oil and many of his paintings are done on location (en plein air) to enable him to better capture the mood of the subject. Currently his primary subject is Arkansas landscapes with a leaning toward the many beautiful rivers and creeks throughout the state. Although many of the elements of his paintings may be moved around for a better composition the scenes are recognizable by a viewer who has been there.
The element of water appears in many of Bill's paintings not only for the peaceful calming effect of sitting on a creek bank or lake shore executing a painting but for the challenge it offers. Capturing the subtle changes as reflections give way to colors from underwater objects or suggesting the movement of the water is very challenging.
Gloria has the gift of capturing those wonderful warm moments and perfect glimpses, that one would like to remember forever, with a style imbued with nostalgia. Her love of the technique of water color is evident in the exciting flow of color and form over the paper, achieving effects that range from realism into the abstract.
