In 1966, while in Vietnam, Bill purchased a 35mm camera and with time learned basic photography. In 1976, while stationed in Germany, Bill was able to expand his knowledge through working as a press photographer. While assigned to Panzer Kasern Public Affairs office, he attend three Nikon short courses which taught him to expand his ideas about photography. This passion continued while in the Navy he was as part of the Snoopy team and worked on the cruise book for the destroyer USS Oldendorf.
