Artist Statement:
Kelso’s works on canvas and
paper are abstractions
inspired by natural forms.
Rock formations, corals, and
faceless sea creatures are
often used as subjects. The
images are developed from
memory of forms rather than
actual photographs. Some works
are based on sketches, while
others are more spontaneously
composed. Fleshy and flowing,
these intertwined forms are
viewed up close and personal
as if a cropped detail of a
larger otherworldly scene.
Color is used boldly to infuse
the compositions with drama.

Bonnie Kelso has lived in Las Vegas for four years. Previously she was living and working in the Washington, DC area as an exhibit designer for organizations such as the Smithsonian Institution and National Geographic Society.
Kelso, who studied Fine Art at the Rhode Island School of Design has recently returned full time to her original passion for painting. She has traveled extensively abroad and is an avid outdoors enthusiast. |
