Artist Statement:
I enjoy making art for so many different reasons. Mostly it's symbolism of the objects and how it relates to the story or feelings that I'm trying to express. Sometimes it's the beauty of a scene; the lighting, colors or composition. Sometimes it's the person. Inspiration ...

| Biggest Artistic Inspiration |
Inspiration is always around for me.
Lighting really pulls me. Sometimes light will hit something just right and it's hard to stop looking at it.
People inspire me too. A lot of times when I'm sitting talking to someone I want to paint them just as they are sitting or standing in front of me, in whatever the space is. Although I don't paint a lot of portraiture yet, I'm still learning, I am continually interested in the way lighting mixes and reflects on different skin tones and the physical details of the person that make them unique.
I am also very inspired when I am watching live music, especially in dark places with colored lighting.
I am also moved by dancing. I think that we have deep freedom centers within us and dancing releases it and in turn, us. I also love watching people dance, especially slow dancing. I like to watch the connections between 2 people and their connection to the music.
I also get a lot of inspiration walking through fields. The vastness and the repetition really pulls at me.
I love spending time in the woods. Whenever I spend time in nature I'm always shown something that I've never seen before.
And seeing other people's artwork is a huge inspiration for me. |

| Why Did You Become An Artist |
I don't know why I started making art. It's always been in my life since I was a child. There's something that's always pulling me to keep painting. |

| Your Personal Biography |
As a kid I always would draw. I loved drawing and I knew that I wanted to be an artist, whatever that meant, that's what I wanted to be. I didn't begin painting until 1997 when a friend helped me to get started and my life has been involved with it ever since.
While I was experimenting with oil paint, tempera and watercolor I got involved with murals and canvas murals. It's really exciting to have a huge blank wall or canvas in front of you!
I have been actively working as a mural painter and decorative finisher for the last several years (in the links section there is a link to some of the canvas murals that I do). But not until 2007 have I begun showing my fine art. Once I bypassed my own fears about showing it has become very liberating. I encourage anyone who is struggling with fear of showing your work to try to overcome it. There is a big world out there and people want to see you and your work in it! |
