Artist Statement for Bonnie Lanz
|
|
|
Color, movement and imagination all at play is the best way to describe this amazing celebration of art.
Bonnie Lanz was told by a Master Architect, that "In the simple is the divine." Believing this to be true, she is inspired to keep it simple and let the colors and textures speak for themselves.
Yet, her work tends to be exquisitely intense. Bold colors that take the viewer on a magic journey within.
It was her intention to learn how to quilt that opened up this door of fabric collage. Luckily for us, her sewing machine wasn't working. Undaunted, she let her imagination fly and created a new way to express herself. Using mainly batik fabrics applied to canvas and allowing the edges to fray she developed this visual symphony of color and pattern.
Lanz has created art that is an expression of delight for the many layers of life. For the phenomenon of light that mingles in and out of our awareness. For the rhythm of our days and nights as we learn how to grow in life and love.
