Artist Statement for Bonny Leibowitz

|
|
Bonny’s paintings and sculpture express the interconnectedness of life’s experiences, a soulful presence and an evolution into one’s deepening spiritual self. She incorporates color, movement and depth to reveal rich warm imagery including women, horses, and birds in an eternal landscape of mountains, sky, water and foliage in this compelling concept of a seamless organic totality.
The relationships in her earliest works between riders and horses are powerful bold statements filled with movement, expressing great freedom in life’s journey. The vibrancy of her colors and unique style are well recognized. Her canvases now executed in oil have become all encompassing in nature and continue to have a timeless universal appeal.
It's not often you find a great piece of art that moves you to your soul, that truly speaks to you. Each piece seems to carry an insightful message and an impact that you'll relate to on many levels. A sign of a great piece of art is one that you never tire of, one you continue to see more in; the longer you live with it. That's certainly the case with Bonny's art, a sentiment her collectors over the past eighteen years agree on.
Originally from Philadelphia where she was intrigued by and created art ever since she can remember, Bonny continued her studies at Temple University’s Tyler College of Art. After moving to Dallas in 1977, she began to develop her personal style and find her niche. Her successful showings in Dallas, Santa Fe, St Louis, Palm Springs, Honolulu, Newport Beach, Denver and Las Vegas began in 1986. Notable national magazines which published articles on Bonny's life and art include Southwest Art, Inform Art and Equine Images.
