Artist Statement:
My concern has been primarily with the ability of vague objects to become functionally androgynous while remaining interesting and informative. The information I seek to pass on deals with the objects that I interact with on a regular basis. They are the bits of visual knowledge that are gathered inside a distinct region--tied to the context of that particular area. For this reason, studying my surroundings and its contents is an important part of my research. I continue using fabricated steel, forged steel, and cast metals as primary sources of structure and form, however, I believe a mixture of unexpected materials can be introduced thoughtfully to play as interesting juxtapositions--especially when the idea calls for non-traditional usage. There are no lines, for me, between iron, wood, bronze, clay, or rope. They are material--with which we explore round thoughts. ...
