Artist Statement:
I was born in Bavaria, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1963. At that time, I designed for a number of companies (Lenox China, Franklin Mint and Goebel of North America). Among the pieces I designed was a limited edition plate collection, titled "The Confederacy Collection" for Lenox China. This is on permanent display at the Confederacy Museum in Richmond, VA, and in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian Institute.
I began to paint watercolors in photo-realistic style. Then, in the late 70's, my approach to painting was more in the surreal style, which gave me more freedom to express myself.
I use objects people can easily relate to. With the right combination of things, I try to make people understand and realize how important our environment is. Sometimes I take a crack at politics and social problems. But, I never forget who gave me the gift and ability to speak with my brush....
