Artist Statement:
I was born in Bavaria, Germany
and immigrated to the United
States in 1963. At that time,
I designed for a number of
companies (Lenox China,
Franklin Mint and Goebel of
North America). Among the
pieces I designed was a
limited edition plate
collection, titled "The
Confederacy Collection" for
Lenox China. This is on
permanent display at the
Confederacy Museum in
Richmond, VA, and in the
permanent collection at the
Smithsonian Institute.

I began to paint watercolors
in photo-realistic style.
Then, in the late 70's, my
approach to painting was more
in the surreal style, which
gave me more freedom to
express myself.

I use objects people can
easily relate to. With the
right combination of things, I
try to make people understand
and realize how important our
environment is. Sometimes I
take a crack at politics and
social problems. But, I never
forget who gave me the gift
and ability to speak with my
brush....
