Artist Statement:
Hey I'm Brendan...first of all
thanks for taking a look at my
work. I'm always in the
process of creating something
new, so I'll be adding as much
as I can periodically. About
what I do...the pictures I
create are always those that
interest me. I'm certainly not
in tune with what is going to
sell these days...infact, I'm
not sure if I could part with
a lot of my paintings. This
will definitely cause a
problem if I want to do this
full time. I suppose if I
always paint what I love to
have, then I can't go wrong.
I'm attracted to pictures with
evocative symbolism, metaphor
and especially heavy contrast
in shade, color and
composition. More importantly
though, while the pictures I
like seem to have similar
traits, I don't think any
amount of analysis can
determine a "good" picture. I
hold the belief that good art
is intrinsic. It doesn't need
someone's opinion to determine
it's worth. Something is
beautiful because it exists
that way. Creating that will
always be my goal as an
artist. With respect to
style...I feel it'...
