Artist Statement:
My work typically uses rather barren urban landscapes and interiors as vehicles to portray an introspective and contemplative response to the mundane and commonplace. I put an emphasis on the drama of light and shadow, which serves partly to describe form, but which also becomes a metaphor for the passage of time and of our fleeting existence. Despite a somewhat believable look to the images, I work from a variety of sources, piecing together a range of imagery into a single work, and so the paintings become primarily invented and imagined. ...
