Artist Statement:
I feel compelled to make art everyday. Several years ago, someone told me that I should write a journal daily and now I use my artwork to do just that, capture what is happening with me. I try not to judge or filter what comes out of me; instead, I try to learn what I am going through and then lett go. Often times I use patterns and designs to get the creative process started.
I enjoy making something concrete and meaningful out of the random found objects that come into my life. When I watch my thoughts and pick out spiritual, psychological, meaningful, and arbitrary words, phrases, and ideas, I begin to put the puzzle together that result in the final piece. When I put meaning to all that runs through my mind, I put meaning to my life.
Making art allows me to shift perspectives from looking out towards the world to looking inside myself for the answers. My hope is that people will let go of set ideas and beliefs, and look within themselves with out judgments and fears and begin to become more creative in their own lives.
